Dave was born and educated in Manchester, gaining a BSc in Electronic Engineering from the University of Bangor in North Wales.
Dave started off wielding a soldering iron, but soon found the programming of micro-chips much more satisfying. Dave was part of the microprocessor boom in the 80’s making his living from providing industrial versions of the popular BBC Microprocessor. The 90s saw a switch to the world of the PC and its clones. Programming moved from Basic to C, C++.
The last 20 years Dave was the Technical Director of Beacon Computer Technology where he architected many designs for many customers. Working in C# and using Microsoft development tools, Dave was a wizard at work. Software projects of all sizes were provided on a consultancy basis to any business who required bespoke development. If you could not buy it he could build it.
Over a period of 20 plus years he has gained extensive experience in the delivery and maintenance of enterprise-level solutions for clients in the government, pharmaceutical, aerospace and automotive sectors, fulfilling client-facing technical and managerial roles.
He has extensive experience of the full Microsoft technology stack and his skills include the following:
- Web technologies including ASP.NET, MVC, JavaScript, JQuery, CSS, Bootstrap
- Windows development with WinForms and WPF
- SQL Server 7 to 12
- Business Intelligence with SQL Server Reporting (SSRS) and Analysis Services (SSAS)
In his spare time Dave mostly enjoys outdoor and social activities. He is a keen guitarist, runner and loves to travel as much as possible.
